Sex Work

There is no specific legislation related to sex work. Sex work is unregulated and no mention of it appears in the law. Voluntary prostitution is not a crime, although it is not recognised as a profession. The lack of a legal framework to protect sex workers renders them vulnerable, given that sex work is not considered a profession, it is impossible to stipulate a work contract to practise this activity.

The penal code designates as a criminal offence pandering at Article 107, 01/10/1995, which states: “Who, professionally or with a profitable intention to promote, to favour or to make easy the exercise of prostitution by another person or the practice of sexual acts of relief, exploring situation of desertion or of economical necessity, will be punished with prison for a period between 6 months and 5 years.”
